“Brennen Patrick Brady, strip down in the garage,” Dmitri yelled from the hallway as he placed the bag back into the closet.

“The garage?” There had been more attitude than question to his words. Calling him by his full name was never a good thing. Brennen’s stomach cramped, his palms moistened and nausea set in. He wiped his hands on his jeans. He didn’t believe the garage was an appropriate area for punishment. Not his punishment.

“Who’s in charge of your discipline?” Dmitri’s sharp voice, so sure of himself, sent chills through Brennen.

“You are.”

“Never question my orders. Unless of course, you want your punishment doubled,” he yelled from the hallway, and slammed the closet door.

“Yes, Sir.” He’s really being mean. Why not the fucking bed, so I’m more comfortable? This isn’t a good sign of things to come. He better not change his mind about his nasty belt.

Brennen lingered in the immaculate kitchen, standing frozen at the sink and looked through the window at the sparkling pool. Dmitri sprinted into the kitchen behind him. He nearly knocked Brennen over. He whipped around to face Dmitri, who was staring hard at Brennen with those piercing blue eyes.

“Don’t think I’m standing here ignoring the fact that you continue to disrespect me by not following my orders immediately and without question,” Dmitri said.

“Which garage?”

“The empty one. Kneel in the middle of the garage. Hands behind your back. Head bowed. Keep quiet. Think about your behavior.” Dmitri barked his orders.

Knots twisted in Brennen’s stomach. This would be the first punishment he would receive as a married man. Dmitri didn’t punish him frequently, but when he did, he displayed absolutely no mercy. Brennen had managed to stay in Dmitri’s good graces from the time they got married until now. All because of Viktor. His precious Viktor starts all this shit by coming to our home. Dmitri could have met him somewhere else instead of here. He knows exactly what time I come home. He wanted me to see them. But why?

About Brina Brady:

I’m from Huntington Beach, Ca. I taught various subjects at a Continuation High School in Los Angeles, California for 27 years. I obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in history, Secondary Social Science Credential and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Reading and Secondary Education from California State University, Long Beach. I also enrolled in some creative writing classes at UCLA. I am currently taking classes from Romance Writers of America. I have two orange cats who are brothers. I have three daughters and four grandchildren.

INTERVIEW w/ Brina Brady:

1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve been writing since I picked up a pencil at four. Before then, I wrote in my head without a pencil. What prompted me to write is the same prompt for breathing. However, after reading three hundred MM novels, I decided to write one to publish and I did.

2. How long does it take you to write a book?

Rent Me took me thirteen months. Bend Over took eight months. Own Me took six months. I think I’m getting faster.

3. What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

I wake up early, make coffee and write. I babysit on three for two hours, then return to write. At night, I read or play on Facebook.

4. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Every night, I convert my WIP into a mobi file and listen to it on my Kindle when I go to bed. I also create play covers for it.

5. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

I get my ideas from pictures and videos. I research certain aspects of my subject, but most of it is made up in my head.

6. When did you write your first book and how old were you?

I wrote my first novel, Article of Rebellion, when I was in my twenty’s. I haven’t published it yet. At the time, I didn’t know you weren’t allowed to write underage sex. I’m talking about sixteen year-olds. So, that story will need to be revised. Either I need to make the characters older or remove the sexual content.

7. What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading and drinking and dancing at bars are fun. I actually read 99% and maybe 1% for the bars. It used to be the reverse.

8. What does your family think of your writing?

My family likes that I’m writing, but they don’t read what I write.

9. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

I learned that I had a lot more control over my story when I self-published it.

10. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I wrote five books, published three and another one is half-way completed. The very first one, not Rent Me, needs major revision because of the age issue.

11. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Read the genre you want to write. Take writing classes online or at the university. Belong to writer’s groups. Make friends with authors. Read writing books. Best advice I have is to write every day.

12. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

Yes, lots of my readers have become my friends. They ask me to write another book with the same characters, so I did. They ask me to create a paperback version of my books and I did. They ask what I’m currently writing.

13. What do you think makes a good story?

Good emotional characters make the best story. Plots are good, but the character development is more important.
